The Assays

Preclinical evidence suggests that measuring circulating Ang-1 and Ang-2 in patients might provide valuable information on vascular barrier properties and (neo-) angiogenesis. We have recently developed sensitive immunoassays to quantify circulating Ang-1 and Ang-2 in human serum samples (Lukasz A, and Hellpap et al. Crit Care 2008) [17]. We have subsequently used these novel tools to uncover the pathophysiologic and prognostic role of Ang-1 and Ang-2 in various diseases.
